Dr Claire Stevens

Dr Claire Stevens is a general surgeon with subspecialty qualifications in surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts. She completed her medical degree at Flinders University of South Australia in 2006. Claire did her surgical training in Melbourne, Geelong and Warrnambool and was awarded her fellowship (FRACS) in general surgery in 2015.
Claire undertook subspecialty training in hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplant at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide and The Austin Hospital in Melbourne. She has also worked as the Senior Clinical Fellow in Hepatobiliary Surgery at University Hospital Southampton. This hospital pioneered laparoscopic hepatobiliary surgery in the UK and Europe and is the highest volume oncological centre for liver and pancreas surgery in the UK.
On return to Australia, Claire initially worked as a specialist hepatobiliary surgeon at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide. She returned to Geelong to commence private and public practice in general and hepatobiliary surgery including surgery of the liver, pancreas, gall bladder, adrenal glands and bile ducts.
Outside of the work environment, Claire is an ultra-endurance cyclist and raced unsupported across Australia from West to East in the inaugural Indian Pacific Wheel Race. She has ridden and raced solo and off-road in multiple remote locations around the world including the UK, South Africa and Namibia. Claire was the 4th Solo Woman to finish the 2024 Silk Road Mountain Race, an off-road and unsupported 1940km bike packing race through Kyrgyzstan.
